Q&A
Signing up is straightforward. Simply send an email to: tdl@tag-des-lokaljournalismus.de
Send an email to tdl@tag-des-lokaljournalismus.de and attach your logo as a PNG or SVG file. Your media brand will then be added as a participant in the initiative.
Participation in the Local Journalism Day is free of charge. The accompanying webinars, offered in collaboration with various media organisations, are also available to you at no cost.
You can sign up at any time — there is no fixed deadline. Last-minute participation is explicitly welcome, even on the day itself! If you have any questions, you can reach us at: tdl@tag-des-lokaljournalismus.de
There are no specific requirements. The initiative is open to newspaper publishers, media brands, news associations, TV and radio broadcasters that actively support and promote local journalism. We are particularly looking forward to involving TV and radio formats more prominently in 2027.
Participating media organisations are expected to align their activities with the set date of the action day. We will be announcing our shared goals for 2027 soon — feel free to check back on our website regularly!
The next Local Journalism Day will take place on 5 May 2027. Mark the date in your calendar now and be part of it!
There are no restrictions on how early you can start promoting the event. You are free to begin whenever it suits your own schedule and editorial planning. The earlier, the better! The only important thing is that the actual activities and content related to the action day are published on 5 May 2027.
Many media organisations plan so many activities and articles that they cannot publish all of their content on the action day itself. Please use your own judgement as to when it makes sense to publish content, without diluting the impact of our shared unified date. For example, if you are planning a workshop, it could take place on the action day itself or the day before, so that the coverage of the workshop can then be published on the LJD itself.
Decide in whatever way works best for you. Please keep in mind: by aligning around a single unified date, we create a powerful shared moment and can collectively draw attention to the topic and generate social buzz. In all external communications, we therefore always refer to the unified date of 05.05.2027 for the Local Journalism Day.
Use the official hashtags #TagdesLokaljournalismus and #TDL on your social media channels and invite the TDL account as a collaborator — particularly on Instagram (@tagdeslokaljournalismus). We also offer webinars on topics such as Instagram for beginners, TikTok for local newsrooms, and how to effectively reach younger audiences.
You can find all materials for your coverage and communications in the press section of our website. You are free to use all materials in the context of the LJD, including for promotional purposes.
